项目摘要

本研究は、瑜伽行派の典籍に現れる種姓 (gotra) 説の研究と、それに基づいた種姓説と関連する思想の研究との2つが軸となる。本年度の具体的な研究成果について、第1の瑜伽行派の典籍に現れる種姓説として、『大乗荘厳経論』「種姓品」各偈頌の所説と『瑜伽師地論』の中の『菩薩地』およびその他の『瑜伽師地論』の種姓に関する教説の対応関係を整理し、『大乗荘厳経論』「種姓品」は、『菩薩地』「種姓品」の構成や内容に依拠しながら、『菩薩地』やその他の『瑜伽師地論』に散在する種姓に関する教説を統合し、種姓説の体系化を推し進めていることを指摘した。さらに、『大乗荘厳経論』独自の種姓説を、「種姓品」内と外の展開という2つの視点から明らかにした。この研究をうけて、『大乗荘厳経論』「種姓品」の中で、種姓の存在することが主題の第2偈を取り上げた。偈頌の成立前として、『瑜伽師地論』に源泉を辿り、偈頌の成立後として、ヴァスバンドゥの註釈に基づき、両書の関係を考察し、同偈頌に対する2通りの解釈の可能性を提示した。両解釈の比較を通じて、ヴァスバンドゥの註釈の独自性を見出し、彼以降の註釈を踏まえ、彼の註釈以降の種姓説の展開を明らかにした。第2の種姓説と関連する思想として、三乗と一乗の問題に関連して、『菩薩地』における衆生の成熟および教化、特に教化の手立てに焦点をあてた。教化と成熟に共通の手立ては「力種姓品」所説の四摂事であることを指摘し、特に利行に関連する相違した意楽を持つ手立てが教化の手立てであることを明らかにした。最後に、瑜伽行派の基本典籍として、『菩薩地』「種姓品」に関して、4本の梵文写本を用いた梵文校訂テキストを作成し、校訂テキストに基づく翻訳を完了した。上述の研究は、瑜伽行派の種姓説を整理し解明する点で意義があり、特に『瑜伽師地論』『大乗荘厳経論』は最初期の種姓説を伝えている点で重要度が非常に高い。
