院政期真言密教における図像集の編纂について－『別尊雑記』を中心に－

项目摘要

院政期以降、密教儀礼の作法やその本尊となるほとけの図像が多様化し、これらを収集・分類した図像集が相次いで編纂された。特に、真言僧心覚（1117～1181）が編纂した『別尊雑記』は、院政期の図像集のうち唯一原本が伝存し、また、当時の口伝や図像を網羅的に類聚したものとして注目される。本研究の目的は『別尊雑記』を中心として、院政期に編纂された図像集にあらためて注目し、その内容構成や成立事情を明らかにするとともに、これらの図像集が実際に果たした具体的な役割を解明することである。報告者はこれまで『別尊雑記』の成立をめぐる問題（１．成立年代、２．編纂をめぐるネットワーク、３．四人の師の選択理由および引用法）、および『別尊雑記』の内容・構成をめぐる問題（１．構成の特色・思想的典拠、２．図像の選択意図）について検討を行ってきた。なお『別尊雑記』は、儀礼や図像が流派ごとに分類・整理されているが、これが編纂された院政期において真言宗は多くの流派に分立し、各派が自らの正統性を主張するため、儀礼や図像の研究を重ねていた。すなわち『別尊雑記』は師から弟子へ真言密教を伝授する場において重要な役割を担った可能性が高く、また自らの流派のアイデンティティを主張する際の拠り所となったことも想定される。加えて『別尊雑記』の編纂については、後白河院の子息にあたる守覚の関与が指摘されているが、後白河院は真言密教の興隆に密接に関わったことで知られる。よって本年度は『別尊雑記』の編纂意図をめぐる問題に注目し、特に『別尊雑記』が真言密教の継承・発展において果たした機能、および『別尊雑記』の編纂と後白河院の関わりについて追究した。今後はさらに、編者である心覚が「唐本（中国から伝来した図像）」を出典とすることを注記した図像に目を向け、院政期の真言密教における「唐本」の位置づけを探るとともに、中国仏教受容の実態を追究したい。
