项目摘要

本年度の調査は、古本州島における稜柱系細石刃石器群の形成過程を比較研究の視座から明らかにすべく、北海道における細石刃石器群の技術的多様性の把握、それらの石器群を有する集団の居住形態の解明を目的とした研究を重点的にすすめてきた。平成26年度博士学位申請論文として東京大学大学院人文社会系研究科に提出した「北海道北見市吉井沢遺跡の形成過程と空間的組織の研究」では、遺跡内の活動と遺跡形成過程の関係性を検討し、晩氷期における居住形態の実態に迫る研究をおこなった。同論文では、吉井沢遺跡が、度重なる回帰的利用によって残された地域の中心的な遺跡であり、一回の居住期間は季節的かさらに短い期間であることを指摘した。また、この時期の石器群の様相は遺跡やその中の地点レベルで空間的な変異が大きいことが知られているが、吉井沢遺跡の分析から、この時期の多様な地点的行動のあり方は、屋内居住空間とそれに付設された複数の機能的な屋外作業空間に対応することが明らかになった。従来の遺跡研究法である遺跡内構造分析では、度重なる場の利用と重複堆積物（パリンプセスト）との関係を捉えることができず、遺跡の回帰的利用と場の機能的維持に言及することが難しかったが、同論文はそのためのアプローチ法を提示することができた。これらの結果から、北海道の晩氷期人類は、以前に比べると長距離におよぶ居住地の移動を頻繁におこなうことはなくなったが、地域内を巡回的かつ頻繁に移動していたことを、具体的に示すことができた。このような広域巡回的な生業戦略と居住形態が、本州での細石刃技術の衰退・消滅以後も、北海道において細石刃技術が使われ続けていたことに深く関係することが明らかになった。
