By applying an approach of translation studies focusing on paratexts around translated texts to the study of the reception of foreign literature, this research explores literary translation in the 1920s led by the publication of 'Yen-pon', a series of selected literary works sold at one yen apiece.Publishers of yen-pon had the following intentions: to popularise literature and to expand its market for ordinary readers; to employ the original-oriented and academic attitude toward foreign literature to enlighten the readers; to consciously intervene in the process of translating and in the construction of translation norms led at the time by academism. In short, yen-pon publishers, by seemingly contradictory attitudes toward translation between reader-oriented and source-oriented policies, attempted to introduce different norms and modes of receiving translated literature.

本研究将翻译研究的重点放在翻译文本的旁文本上，以研究外国文学的接受，探讨20世纪20年代以“yen -pon”的出版为主导的文学翻译。“yen -pon”是一系列文学作品的精选，每本售价一日元。言词的出版商有以下意图：普及文学，扩大普通读者的市场；以原创性和学术性的态度对待外国文学，启迪读者；自觉介入翻译过程，自觉介入当时学术主义主导的翻译规范建构。总之，在以读者为中心和以源为中心的翻译政策之间，译者试图通过看似矛盾的翻译态度引入不同的接受翻译文学的规范和模式。
