Durch den Einsatz neuartiger sterisch anspruchsvoller Aminopyridinato-Liganden sollen Lanthanoidkomplexe stabilisiert werden, die als hochaktive (kationische) Polymerisationskatalysatoren und als enantioselektive Katalysatoren fungieren können. Die aus einer effektiven Abschirmung der Lanthanoidionen resultierende gebremste Reaktivität kann die Darstellung von heterozweikernigen Komplexverbindungen ermöglichen, in denen es zu Wechselwirkungen zwischen dem Lanthanoidion und dem Übergangsmetall kommt. Mittels THF-Eliminierungs-Reaktionen wird ausgehend von MonoAp-Lanthanoid-Komplexen die Synthese von neuen clusterartigen Verbindungen angestrebt.
