项目摘要

昨年度の研究成果を踏まえ、本年度は当初計画から若干変更して研究を行った。特に都市と村落を結びつける要素となる交通、地域内外で活動する商人について、さらに掘り下げることとした。まず、南山城地域における新関と地域社会の動向について。南山城地域の住民にとって、奈良街道・東路が最も重要な交通路であったことは昨年度明らかにした。そこで本年度は、この東路において15世紀に顕著に見られる新関と、それらをめぐる地域住民の動向について詳細な分析を進めた。その結果、（ア）15世紀後半には南山城に新関が濫立するが、大多数は地域住民による不法な新関であった。彼らは京都・奈良間を行き来する交通を前に、経済的利益を求めて新関を設置した。一方、新関は自身の経済活動を阻害することもあった。新関を忌避する動きが見られるのもこのころからである　（イ）新関を忌避する動きが最も大きな形で現れるのが、山城国一揆であった。掟法による新関禁止は一定の効果を示しており、国一揆中の新関設置は見られなかった。ところが国一揆が解体すると、再び新関が設置されるようになる。近年の国一揆研究では守護権などの問題からアプローチすることが多いが、現実の利害関係を調整するために成立した、という視点も再評価されてよい　ということを明らかにした。以上の内容は、戦国織豊期研究会において口頭報告を行うと同時に、学術雑誌『日本史研究』に投稿する準備を進めており、近日中に投稿を行う予定である。また、都市の商人と権力の支配の関係については、中世都市・宇治とそこで活動する茶商人についての研究成果を、「大阪市立大学文学部・文学研究科 OPEN FACULTY」において口頭報告を行い、都市の特産品である宇治茶、15世紀後半から始まる流通の活発化、これらに伴う豪商の成長と都市を支配する権力それぞれがリンクすることで、近世的な支配が実現されることを紹介した。
