项目摘要

本年度は、①前年度に引き続き「小林家文書」（大阪市立中央図書館所蔵）を分析し、御池通五丁目・六丁目の社会構造全体の考察を深めるとともに、天保改革の売女統制が両町に与えた影響を考察し、博士論文を執筆すること、②京都の遊廓・遊所に関する史料を調査すること、を中心に行った。①について、まず両町の展開を分析すると、裕福な町人の資本の投下先として出発した堀江新地の特徴を示す五丁目と、既開発域に隣接する六丁目では、町の展開が大きく異なっていた。また町の住人の具体相を分析すると、六丁目には零細な者が多く居住しており、そのことは町共同体のあり様にも大きな影響をもたらした。以上から、新地全体の特質を踏まえつつ、固有の条件を念頭に町の分析を進めることで、堀江新地の地域社会構造の把握をより深めることが可能であると言える。また両町の茶屋のあり様から、堀江新地の茶屋の存在形態は家持の強い意向のもとにあることがわかった。新地の社会構造分析の上で、賑わいのために赦免された茶屋のあり様を検討することが有効であり、今後、他の新地の事例も分析した上で、堀江新地との比較・検討を行う必要があろう。天保改革で茶屋は全廃されたが、旧茶屋赦免地の一部である「三ヶ所（新堀・曾根崎・道頓堀）」には、事実上遊女商売がほぼ公認された。この政策が孕む、改革の方針に反して遊所が膨張しかねないという矛盾を念頭に、「三ヶ所」とそれ以外の旧茶屋赦免地の双方において、改革が与えた影響を考察した。また、安政期の茶屋再赦免についても、町触の再検討とともに再赦免された茶屋の具体相を分析した。以上を通して、天保改革以降の売女統制の転換を一連のものとして捉え、それが実際の遊所に与えた影響を明らかにした。②については、「京都西石垣柏屋町文書」（明治大学博物館所蔵）をはじめ、現在までに確認しているものは大方収集することができた。
