项目摘要

報告者の研究課題は平安時代仮名散文作品の「異本」テクストが内包する役割の解明を目指すものだが、課題の遂行に伴って、「異本」に対して基準となるべき「通行本」テクストに、読解上の重大な瑕疵が散見するという事実が明らかとなっている。本年度は、そうした問題箇所の注釈的検討に基づくこれまでの成果により、当該分野における権威的学術賞である第10回中古文学会賞を受賞することとなり、その客観的評価に導かれて、引き続き「通行本」テクスト、とりわけ『源氏物語』第一部の定家本系テクストに対する注釈的検討を行った。その結果、『源氏物語』桐壺巻・帚木巻・若紫巻において、主語の誤りに発する誤読や文意の不明瞭化、牽強付会による訳文の放置、作品構造の理解を放棄した逐語訳といった問題点を、複数箇所にわたって発見するに至った。また周辺作品では、『紫式部日記』の消息体部分における誤訳と、その解消に伴って見出だされる新たな文章構造の存在を指摘できている。これらの多くは未だ成稿には至らないものの、今後公表を進めていく予定である。一方、当初の目的と関わる「異本」テクストについては、それ自体の読解はもとより、作品成立の問題やジャンルの問題との関係において論じてゆく方向性を、今後の方策として策定するに至っている。具体的には、長編作品の読解順序の流動化の中で異文が生み出されてきた可能性や、作品に対するジャンル意識の変遷に沿って伝本・本文の形態が変容してきた可能性などが考察の対象となること、またそれに併せて、巻序の枠組みから離れた執筆順序に基づく読解の探求や、既存の日記文学・物語的私家集等のジャンルの解体・再構築、あるいは「異本」テクストの探索・整理といった関連課題を進めることの必要性を明らかにできた。
