项目摘要

本年度は大きく2つの軸で研究を行った。一つは、昨年度にその総体を明らかにした「日本国際美術展」の研究材料を基にしつつ、さらに他の大型美術展との比較検証を進める。もう一つは、近代に形成された「美術（芸術）」という制度的枠組みを外部から逆照射する視点、すなわち日本文化論的な視座からの戦後日本美術史の再検証である。具体的には、日本国際美術展と同時代を並走した80年代日本の野外美術展との比較研究に焦点を当てた。特に未研究であった岡山県牛窓に1984年から1992年まで開催された「JAPAN牛窓国際芸術祭」の包括的な研究を行い、その美術的な位置づけ・文脈を明らかにすることを試みた。昨年度に継続して、隔年開催する大型美術展である日本国際美術展や姉妹展である現代日本美術展の構造・言説資料の分析を行い、特に80年代以降に勃興する野外での大型美術展の図録・言説資料・インタヴュー資料に基づいた美術展の構造分析とその文脈について研究した。その際、日本文化論に関するこれまでの研究動向を参照・援用し、美術展のポストモダン的構造と「日本」という場との関わりについて論じた。また東アジア、特にシンガポールの国際美術展（シンガポール・ビエンナーレ）及びナショナル・ギャラリーでの作品調査を行った。今後、戦後の日本・アジアの表現についての研究へと展開していきたい。そのような問題意識に基づいて、60年代の日本国際美術展で受賞している前田常作・村井正誠・山口長男・オノサトトシノブらの作品について、東京国立近代美術館に熟覧を依頼し調査した。成果としては、5月に美学会西部会研究発表会での口頭発表を行い、また雑誌『美学』第250号に論文を投稿し、採択された。また博士論文は出版を予定している。「日本国際美術展」再考によって明らかになった60年代「国際的同時性」をキーワードとして、次の研究へと進めていきたい。
