１．『ペスト』読解：「抽象」「単調さ」の分析カミュと言語哲学者ブリス・パランの比較研究について、既に扱った「言語」や「超越」の問題をうけて、本年度は「抽象」と「単調さ」といった概念を分析した。「抽象」の問題は、「不条理」の作品群（『シシュポスの神話』『異邦人』）から「反抗」の作品群（『ペスト』『反抗的人間』）まで一貫して扱われているが、なかでも小説『ペスト』に焦点をあて、この問題に対してカミュが提示した立場を分析した。また「抽象」と密接に関わる「単調さ」の主題は、カミュにとって否定的なものではなく、抽象化や全体主義的暴力に抗する方策の一つとみなされている。このことを論考「知性と断頭台」「シャンフォール『箴言と挿話集』序文」等の記述を辿りつつ明らかにした。２．アルジェリア知識人の言説について資料収集と分析カミュが生きたアルジェリアという地域の特異性を明らかにした。①文学都市アルジェの歴史と文化史的位置づけ。1830年にフランスがアルジェリア占領統治を開始した直後から、アルジェでは芸術振興のための教育制度等の整備が進められていたことを確認し、また当初からアルジェに滞在していた知識人たちの証言をもとに、パリに対するアルジェの文学都市としての役割を分析した。②カミュ受容の分析。カミュがパリとアルジェの文壇のなかでどのように受容されていったのか（現代まで作家の評価がどのように推移していったのか）を、政治的な言説を含めて確認した。カミュのパンテオン移葬問題（2009年）や、「カミュ生誕百周年記念展」中止騒動（2012年）など、近年の出来事も考察の対象とした。以上の成果をもとに、カミュの作家像が今日アルジェリア戦争後の引揚者（ピエ・ノワール）をめぐる議論と深く結びつけられ、共同体アイデンティティの拠り所として語られている様を素描した。
