本年度は、植民地期朝鮮（1910～1945）における養子制度の運営実態を解明するため、前年度に引き続き、植民地の直前の時期である旧韓末（1894～1910）の養子制度の運用に焦点を当てて研究を行った。前年度に、旧韓末の養子行政・法制面の検討を終えたのち実践面に関して当該期の新聞記事や広告に表れた運用のありようを分析したが、その結果を4月に韓国・朝鮮文化研究会第64回研究例会で報告した。その後の討論を通じて、①直前の時期にあたる朝鮮後期（16～19世紀）の状況把握に努めてこそ旧韓末の実態の特性を浮彫りにしうること、②当該期の識字率は非常に低く新聞にアクセスできる層が限られており、また特殊なケースだからこそ新聞に掲載されたという可能性もあるため、史料の限界や特性に留意することの必要性を認識した。上記の課題を考慮しながら再検討した結果、①養子をめぐる問題を解決するためにとられた手段や手続方法、②養子関係を解消する際の原因やその主体、③養子との葛藤をめぐり、女性、とりわけ寡婦が選択した主体的な行動、④宦官がとった異姓養子、⑤収養子・侍養子とよばれる異姓養子の用語の現れ方という五つの論点を抽出した。これらはいずれも朝鮮後期と旧韓末に行われた儒教的養子制度の相違点を浮彫りにするのみならず、植民地化後の朝鮮総督府による家族法政策が社会に与えた影響を明らかにするうえでも有用な視角である。かかる問題意識に基づき現在論文を執筆中である。また本年度は米国にて統監府および朝鮮総督府が実施した慣習調査事業に関連する史料群を調査した。本史料は日米韓に散在しているため収集に時間を要したが、近代朝鮮の家族法政策の展開過程を把握する上できわめて重要な史料である。今後は、日韓で収集した関連史料と併せて内容を分析し、そこで新たに明らかになった事項を踏まえて既発表論文を見直しつつ、博士論文に結実させたい。
