项目摘要

本年度は，下記の2回の現地調査結果を含むこれまでの研究成果を2つの論文にまとめた．6月1～21日にかけてサウディアラビアのマッカ（メッカ）に渡航し，小巡礼を行った．ビザの制限により，バングラデシュの調査対象農村の出身者の多くが住むリヤドには行くことができなかったが，マッカ・アル・ヌール・スペシャリスト病院寮，ハラム・モスク周辺の店，ホテル等でバングラデシュ人出稼ぎ者に対するインタビュ調査ーを行った．当地域に暮らすバングラデシュ人を居住年数・世帯形態別に分類すると，1970年代末頃に移住し，親族も呼び寄せて暮らしている移民と，数年～10数年単位で滞在している単身男性出稼ぎ者に大きく分けられる．前者を中心とする約700世帯は中心街のはずれに集住しており，ホテル経営等で成功した豊かな者が多く，中にはバングラデシュの出身地域だけでなく，マッカ市にもモスクやイスラーム宗教学校（マドラサ）を建設したという者も見られた．このような定住基盤や経済力を持つ移民が，彼（女）らの出身地域のみならずメッカ市にもたらす政治経済的，社会文化的影響は，短期滞在の単身男性出稼ぎ者が持つ影響力は比にならないと考えられる．8月8日～26日には，バングラデシュの調査対象村で主に宗教教育に関する調査を行った．当地域ではタブリーギー・ジャマーアトのようにグローバルに展開するイスラーム復興運動や書籍・電子メディア普及の影響は弱く，地域のモスクやマドラサ，定期／不定期に行われる女性イスラーム勉強会（タリム）などできわめて局所的かつ対面的にイスラームの知識が広められていることがわかった．また，モスクのイマーム（男性）やその他の男性知識人による説教では，イスラームにおける女性の義務や夫に従順であることの美徳のみが強調されがちであるのに対し，女性説教師によるタリムでは女性の権利について説かれていた．
