Kinetic ordering in twisted nematics (TN) was studied by electrically-driven a two-dimensional TN layer from a nematic-disordered phase towards nematic-ordered phases. Several types of two-dimensional ordering dynamics were induced by controlling the final driving voltage. Dynamics related to a null driving voltage proceed by following universal model A scaling laws. Spatiotemporal correlation functions agree with approximate model A continuum theories. Temporal autocorrelation function decays as predicted by the Ohta-Jasnow-Kawasaki model, instead of the more accepted Mazenko's theory of unstable growth. A comprehensive study of additional model A aspects were experimentally analysed and confirmed. Recent theoretical results about the coexistence of critical percolation (CP) in the two-dimensional model A dynamics were investigated. An exact formula accounting for the number density of hull areas, proposed from CP results, was experimentally confirmed in its full range for the first time. A new CP-dynamic exponent, hitherto observed only in discrete model systems, was measured experimentally. These results confirm the unexpected emergence of CP in model A dynamics and imply a generalisation of the scaling hypothesis for coarsening theories.
