本研究は、東南アジア・イスラーム世界で取り組みが始まっているザカート（イスラームにおける喜捨）実践の次世代型再構築の試みに着目するものである。事例としてインドネシアを取り上げ、世帯調査をはじめ、フィールド調査の実証的分析及び両国の比較分析により、ザカート実践の次世代型再構築のあり方には様々なアプローチがあるという多元的発展径路の視座から、現代的要請に対応したイスラーム型相互扶助制度の再構築の具体的取り組みの実態とその特徴および歴史的・現代的意義を探究することを目的とするものであった。この目的を達成するために、昨年までの二年間に（１）1年3か月の長期フィールド調査による事例的研究の遂行、（２）インドネシア・ムスリム知識人による言説分析について知見を深めてきた。本年度は、本研究課題の最終年度として、イスラームにおけるザカート制度をめぐる理論的視座と、インドネシアのザカート管理団体（NGO）の類型化、地理的分布に加えて、聞き取り調査と世帯調査を合わせた事例分析をまとめた。研究成果の発表としては、国内で2つ、国外で3つの口頭学会発表を行い、一部をブックレットという形で執筆した(次年度発行予定)。第一として、フィールド調査の事例分析を、第一回インドネシア研究懇話会で発表した。第二に、その理論的補助線としてイスラームにおける社会福祉という主題について、英語論文を執筆した。これまでの二年間の研究成果に加え、上記の成果をもとに、研究成果の総まとめとして博士論文を完成させ、2019年3月25日に京都大学博士（地域研究）を取得した。
