The performance of alternative youth speech styles in contemporary urban Japan

从29财年开始，开展并完成了与大学生活有关的社会群体的长期民族志研究。这一民族志包括在课堂上进行的田野调查、俱乐部实践、社会活动等。在俱乐部比赛期间收集了进一步的数据。音频数据是在非正式和正式环境中收集的。在俱乐部练习期间和受控的实验室环境中收集了额外的视频数据。收集的数据使用标准的语篇分析标记进行转录，并汇编成可搜索的文本文件。关键对话已被完全转录，对突出语言项的分析取得了很好的结果，特别是在与青年有关的引语、修辞疑问句的社会和语篇功能以及非正式和正式动词形式变体的使用模式方面，即MASU/普通动词形式变体。已在国内和国际环境中介绍了这些成果，并计划在2018年底和2019年再介绍几次。由于研究在一年后(即提前14个月)停止，结果尚未完全转录和分析，但这项工作仍在进行中，并将在项目完成后很长时间内继续进行。

A long term ethnography of social groups relevant to university life, which began in FY29, was conducted and completed. This ethnography included fieldwork conducted during classes, club practice, social activities etc. Further data was collected during club competitions. Audio data was collected in both informal and formal settings. Additional video data was collected during club practice, and in controlled laboratory settings. Collected data was transcribed using standard discourse analysis markers and was compiled into searchable text files.Key conversations have been fully transcribed and analysis of salient linguistic items has yielded strong results especially with respect to the social and discourse functions of youth-linked quotatives, rhetorical interrogatives as well as patterns of use of informal and formal verb form variants, i.e.MASU/PLAIN verb form variation. These results have been presented in both domestic and international settings with several further presentations planned for late 2018 and 2019. Due to the research stopping after one year (i.e. 14 months early), results have not been fully transcribed and analyzed, however, this work is ongoing and will continue well past the completion of the project.
