外国人特別研究員と受入研究者は「ハイデガーと京都学派：数理形而上学的比較研究」というテーマの下、共同研究を行なった。具体的には両者は、共に現代の非古典論理の一種であり、矛盾を論理的に無害化した上で許容するパラコンシスタント論理を援用しつつ、「真なる矛盾」を認める「真矛盾主義」という形而上学的な立場から、ハイデガーの後期思想と京都学派の哲学（西田幾多郎・西谷啓治）の比較研究を行い、両哲学をそれぞれの仕方で真矛盾主義にコミットした思想として再解釈することを試みた。両者は、京大哲学教室のメンバーを交え、京都学派や、その哲学に影響を与えた道元のテキストの読解作業を行なった。その際、京大側の研究者がそれらのテキストを英訳し、それを下に共同討議を行なうというスタイルが採られる一方、研究員が、自らが専門とするGrounding という現代形而上学の概念装置に関するレクチャーを行なった。また同時期に同研究室に在籍していた非古典論理の専門家である大森仁氏や大西琢朗氏からは、非古典論理についての最新の知見に関する情報提供を随時受けた。このように原典テキストの読解に加えて、現代形而上学や非古典論理の道具立てを参照する形で、共同研究が繰り広げられた。この共同研究で明らかになったのは、後期ハイデガーや後期西田、西谷啓治らは、いずれも世界の中に矛盾を胚胎する「不整合な根拠づけ構造」を読み取り、それを各々独自の仕方で概念的に表現しようとしたこと、これらの構造は、現代のパラコンシスタント論理や真矛盾主義の枠組みの下、かなりの精度でシミュレートできること、の二点である。これらの観点から、研究員は、中期西谷哲学における「空の立場」を「不整合な根拠づけ整合主義」として定式化する解釈を提案し、一方、受入研究者は、後期西田哲学の「絶対矛盾的自己同一」の論理を、「非推移的同一性構造」として再定式化した。
