EPR has witnessed tremendous methodological and instrumental developments during the last two decades, especially in the field of pulsed EPR, high-field EPR and double resonance methods as electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR) or pulsed electron electron double resonance (PELDOR). These advances in EPR spectroscopy have had strong impact on various areas of chemistry, material science, physics and biology and an increasing number of young scientists started their PhD research work in such different application fields of EPR as semiconductor physics, chemical and biochemical catalysis, membrane protein research, zeolites and molecular magnets. The objective of this summer school is to disseminate this modern EPR methodology to the scientific community through its young researchers. The courses will effectively teach them the newest methodological and instrumental developments in EPR spectroscopy along with novel research applications and will give them the theoretical tools which are essential for the comprehension of the various techniques. The location in the Rhein-Main area, close to three active EPR research groups (MPI for Polymer Research Mainz, TU Darmstadt and Goethe University Frankfurt), will give an unique opportunity to include also practical courses on state-of-the art EPR spectrometers.
