项目摘要

本研究は、これまで論理学や自然言語の意味論などの分野で研究されてきた「状況理論」の哲学的基礎を検討することを目標にしている。今年度は前年度までの成果をもとに、状況理論によって情報の流れの形式的記述を与えたBarwiseの議論の再検討を行った。Barwiseは情報の流れを記述するにあたって、叙実性・ゼロックス原理・閉包原理などを情報の流れが満たすべき性質として無条件に仮定した。しかし、近年の情報の哲学では、これらの性質を情報の流れに課すことに関して多くの議論がなされており、無条件に認めてよい仮定とは考えられない。そこで、本研究では認識論の観点からBarwiseの議論の正当化を試みた。着想の源は哲学者Dretskeの情報理論的な認識論である。彼の基本的な洞察は、情報は知識を生み出すものであり、信号が運ぶ情報内容はその信号からわれわれが知ることができる内容と一致する、という点にある。本研究では、情報の流れと知識の間に上述のような意味での連関があるという仮定のみに依拠したとしても、情報の流れに関する数々の原理を正当化できることを示した。具体的には以下のようである。たとえば、φという情報を運ぶ信号によって引き起こされたφという信念が知識だとすれば、φが真でないときには、真でない内容を知ることができてしまう。よって、知識の叙実性から情報の流れの叙実性も正当化される。写真や望遠鏡を介して時間・空間的に遠隔の出来事について知ることができるとすれば、ゼロックス原理を認めることができる。また、同一の出来事を見ることで、含意関係にある複数の知識が得られる場合があることから（目の前にダックスフントがいる、目の前にイヌがいる…）、一つの信号が複数の情報を運ぶと考えざるをえず、その場合には、情報の流れに関しても閉包原理が認められる。
