本特別研究員プロジェクトでは3つの研究論文を完成させることを目指していた。一つはウガンダの結納金文化と女性教育に関する論文、一つはウガンダの女性の流産・死産経験と出産行動に関する論文、一つはボツワナのHIV/AIDS患者の遺族の経済行動に関する論文である。ウガンダの結納金文化に関する研究は、分析や改訂作業を終え、国際査読誌への投稿を開始している。これまでに掲載には至っていないが、早晩の掲載が期待される。出産行動に関する論文も、データ分析や草稿の執筆は完了しており、数多くの国内・国際学会で発表している。現在は最終確認段階であり、早々に国際査読誌への投稿を開始する予定である。ボツワナのHIV/AIDS患者の遺族に関する論文は、遅れている。当初計画では、プロジェクト期間の1年目にデータ収集と分析、草稿の執筆を完了し、本年度は学会発表、改訂、国際査読誌への投稿を予定していた。しかし、データ収集のためのボツワナでの研究倫理審査に想定以上の時間を要し、1年近くプロジェクトの進行が遅滞した。審査終了後、プロジェクト2年目となる本年度はボツワナへの調査出張を行い、ボツワナで行われた社会経済調査の個票データと、医療機関における治療体制に関するデータを受領し、ほぼすべてのデータが集まった。しかし、これらのデータを結合するためには社会経済調査の地域属性を表す識別子がさらに必要だが、統計局の担当者が別の国家的な統計調査に参加してしまったため、本研究プロジェクト期間内に分析と論文執筆を完了することが困難となった。他方、こうした状況のため、3本目の研究論文については計量分析モデルの検討や関連文献の調査を進めることができた。他の機会を得て研究自体は発展的に継続することができることになったことから、本特別研究員プロジェクトから得られた教訓を、今後の研究活動に十分に活かしていくこととしたい。
