项目摘要

令和4年度も令和3年度に引き続き、日本語と英語における語種と複合語（および句動詞）との対照に取り組むことを予定していた。令和3年度までの研究で指摘した、和語複合動詞、動名詞、漢語動詞の類似点と相違点、および、そこに見られる一定のパターンに基づいて、日本語と英語における語種と複合語（および句動詞）の関係が通言語的な規則性を持つことをある程度示すことができた。一方で、そのような規則性が生じる理由については、まだ十分に明らかにすることができていない。日本語においても英語においても、上層に属する語種（日本語では漢語、英語ではLatinate word）が一般に複合的な形式・意味を持つことからすると、これらがいずれも語の拡張形式であり、その点でTalmyの移動動詞および変化動詞の類型の例外となることがこれまでの研究でわかっているが、このことと前述の規則性との関連性を明らかにするには至っていない。さらに、語種に関する日本語と英語の先行研究を通して、通時的な変化にも目を向ける必要があることが明らかになってきた。日本語の漢語と英語のLatinate wordはいずれも上層として採り入れられている点で類似しており、このことと上述の規則性とに何らかの関連性があることも考えられる。このような観点から、これまで計画しつつも進んでいない英語におけるLatinate verbとGermanic verbに関する研究を進めていくとともに、語種と複合語が示す平行的なパターンの更なる解明に向けて、さらに1年間の延長を行うことになった。
