本年度は，研究計画の2年目であり，本来であれば，今後の研究計画遂行のための基礎的な理論的基盤の構築やデータの収集を中心的に行うはずであったが，一定程度の研究成果をすでに公表することができた。まず，研究代表者森田による消費者法に関する業績は，消費者が約款に対してどのような拘束力を感じるのかについて，オンラインサーベイ実験を通じて明らかにしたものである。法学者はしばしば，消費者法に抵触するような約款は無効であると考える。しかし，実際の消費者はそうではない。明らかに不当な約款であろうと，当該契約に合意したというだけで当該約款に拘束されると捉えがちになることが分かった。米国などでも観察された傾向が日本でも観察されることが確認されたわけであり，日本における消費者法のあり方を考える際の重要な出発点を提供したと言える。森田はそのほかにも，証券市場をめぐる訴訟において，統計的手法を活用する際の注意点についての業績を公表することができた。研究分担者尾野は，移民に対する有権者の考え方や候補者に対する有権者の考え方についてのサーベイ実験を行うことで，政治・立法過程において有権者の意識がどのように機能しているかを明らかにする一連の研究成果を公表した。また，CELSA（Conference for Empirical Legal Studies in Asia）やMPSA（Annual Meeting of Midwest Political Science Association）・JSQPS（Japan Society of Quantitative Political Science）などの各種国際学会への参加を通じて，最先端の実証研究の手法やテーマ設定のあり方などについての情報収集にも務めた。
