当該研究は４つの個別研究課題（(A) 東北方言の自発・可能・受動形式の形態統語論、(B) 自他交替における動詞語根の形態的拡張過程、(C) 可能動詞化の方言多様性と受動文の獲得に関する実証研究、(D) 可能動詞化における形態・統語と音声・音韻のインターフェイス）を統合することで実施されている。以下、各課題の実施概要を手短に述べる。まず(A)および(B)については、SASE使役に対する形態統語分析を論文にまとめたものを海外の学術誌に投稿した。また、動詞の自他交替について、大野(1957, 1978)などで提唱された母音/e/に対する合成母音説を形態統語的に再定式化することにより、動詞自他の交替現象の解明に繋げるべく考察を進めた。次に、(C)については、主に「岩手県沿岸方言のプロソディ構造解明」に資する音声データの収集と解析を実施した。特に、岩手県沿岸方言における高トーンの出現に注目し、脚の存在を示唆できるデータが存在するかどうか調査を実施した。調査およびデータ解析の結果、①岩手県宮古市方言における「エ足す言葉」による可能形式（例「読めエル/yom-e-e-ru/）の母音/e-e/部分に高トーンが観察されること、②当該の高トーンは語幹部分の高トーンよりも高くなる、ことが明らかになった。最後に、実証研究である課題(D)では、新型コロナ感染症の影響等のため、引き続き対面での実証的調査は実施が概して困難であったことから、令和3年度の12月に岩手県沿岸地域に在住の成人21名をインフォーマントとして実施した「エ足す言葉」の容認性に関する質問紙調査の結果分析を進めた。その結果として、エ足すと同様に母音eの多重生起による「ラ抜き言葉」による可能形式（例：曲げレル/mag-e-re-ru/）の場合と同様に、自他交替における形態的示唆性がエ足す言葉の形成に関わっていることが明らかになった。
