本課題は古代日本語の各種の格助詞の働きを記述するものである。本年度は、従来から格助詞の一種とされている「と」と、2種類の複合格助詞を取り上げ以下の点を４件の単著論文において報告した。①現状として、古代語において引用助詞として用いられる「と」に関する研究は停滞しているが、係り先となる述部のあり方や、他の要素と組み合わさって転成した複合辞の種類・用法など、今後の課題となる点が山積している。②中古語の複合辞「かけて」は2つの用法を持つ。(1)場所用法：部屋を表す名詞とその部屋に隣接する付属設備を表す名詞がこの順で並んだ語列に接続し、それらの名詞によって表される物理的な範囲内において、述語句の表す静的事態が生じていることを示す。(2)時間用法：一定の長さの期間を表す名詞に接続し、述語句の表す動的事態の開始点がその期間内にあることを示す。③中古語の複合辞「にまかせて」は、〈主体の制御下にない心理（を持つように見えるもの）〉に随伴する動きを描写するための形式である。本動詞「まかす」が有情物や純粋な無情物をニ格に取るのに対し、「にまかせて」の前接名詞は主体の制御から解放された心理か、そうした心理を持つかのようにひとりでに動く事物を表すものに偏る点からそう言える。④古代語において文相当句を承ける「とす」は次の①～⑤に分類できる。①「むとす」「じとす」「命令形＋とす」のように、意図を引用する構造おいて、述部に具体的意味を持たない動詞が現れる傾向から生じたもの。②疑いを表す疑問文なども含めた、主節主体の“考え”の内容を引用するもの。③「…するかと思うと間もなく」のような意で訳せる複合辞「かとすれば」。④前件事態の完遂に向かう様を描写しつつ、その事態が未完結に終わることを含意するもの。④前件の動作を完遂に向かう中で、その動作の一環として後件の動きを起こすこと意の複合辞「として」。
