本研究の目的は、回帰モデルにおける誤差項の分布の仮定を必要としない、新しいセミパラメトリック最尤法（Semiparametric Maximum Likelihood Method）を開発し、二値選択（binary choice）モデル、順序応答（ordered response）モデル、打切り回帰（censored regression）モデルなどの質的（qualitative）・制限（limited）従属変数モデルへの応用を提示することにある。初年度となるＲ４年度は、以下の進捗があった。まず、新しい手法を提示する研究として、線形モデル・二値選択モデルへの応用を提示した論文を執筆した。しかしながら、その後、手法の根幹部分に関して、議論が不十分な点が見つかり、修正を試みている段階である。また、上記二つのモデルへの応用については、推計プログラムも完成済みである。順序応答モデルに関しても本手法は応用可能であり、既に研究に着手しているが、打切り回帰モデルについては直接的な応用が不可能であると思われる。ただし、後者に関して、最尤推定法であるトービット（Tobit）モデルは外れ値に対して脆弱であることが知られているが、外れ値に対して頑健な別の手法を思い付いている。その手法の中でセミパラメトリック最尤法を援用することが出来そうであり、この手法を研究対象に加える予定である。

The purpose of this study is to develop a new Semiparametric Maximum Likelihood Method for determining the distribution of error terms in loop regression, binary choice regression, ordered response regression, censored regression, qualitative limitation, and attribute regression.
