本研究は、日本の物流エコシステムにおける重層的な下請構造の実態を把握することが目的である。90年台の規制緩和に伴う委託物流の加速化に伴い、多くの企業が物流機能を外部化した結果、物流ビジネスの「生態系」が構築された。しかし、その一方で物流業界の下請構造は物流危機の原因の1つとして問題視されている。本研究は社会ネットワーク分析のアプローチをとる。本年度は、本研究の最大の課題である、社会ネットワーク分析に必要な取引データの入手に注力した。食品メーカーの物流子会社の取引先企業から始めて、その取引先企業といったようにデータ入手を繰り返すことで、階層的な取引ネットワークが把握できる取引関係データを入手することに成功した。対象業界を「食品メーカー」としたのは、輸送量が多い業種であり、かつ季節変動が大きく下請化しやすい業界構造を有するからである。また、物流子会社をスタート地点としたことは、大手食品メーカーのほとんどが物流子会社を設立して、物流を管理しているからである。したがって、物流子会社を主要顧客として依存している輸送会社は、下請関係にあるとみなすことができると考えた。大手信用調査会社との協議と協力のうえ、上記の取引データだけでなく、当該会社の従業員数や財務状況のデータも入手できた。よって、将来的には下請ネットワークの位置とのクロス分析が可能である。ただし、単年度の予算の都合もあり、データの入手が2階層にまでにとどまっている。この点は次年度も継続したい。
