本研究は、遊びを用いて病児や障害児を支援する専門職である「ホスピタル・プレイ・スペシャリスト(HPS)」の有効性を実証し、HPSの普及と定着に必要な学術的根拠を明らかにすることが最終的な到着点である。病児が形成する、治療に対するトラウマなど二次的な問題を抱える可能性、また、新生児医療の進歩を背景に、医療ケアを受けながら成長し続ける子どもたちが増加している問題に対して、HPSの有用性を示していく。本研究では、リカレント教育としてのHPS養成教育の現状と課題や、HPSを阻害する要因と促進する要因を明らかにする。また、HPSが小児医療を質的に転換させるために必要な職種であること、HPS定着のための科学的根拠と学術的な位置づけを見出していくことを目的とする。上記を遂行するため、HPS養成教育の評価、医療現場での問題点などに関する調査に取り組んでいる。初年度はこれまで蓄積されてきたHPS養成教育に関する先行研究を整理し、調査において必要な質問項目の検討、郵送アンケート調査の準備、実施をした。具体的には、6月にHPSを対象に172名に郵送アンケート調査を実施し、HPS養成教育を受講した理由、HPSが小児医療チームに加わるにあたり感じている難しさや問題点、HPSを導入するために必要な今後の展望や課題などについての調査を行った。この調査から、94名の回答を得ることができた。その後、調査票の整理、データの構築を行い、HPSを阻害する要因、促進する要因を抽出していった。
