本研究は、いつでも簡便に短時間で行うことができる超音波検査を使用して、産科危機的出血の原因を速やかに診断するとともに病状の重症度を把握すること、またそれにより、それぞれの出血の原因を速やかに明らかにし、治療方針の決定へつなげられるようなアルゴリズムを作成することを目的としている。具体的にはFASO (Focused Assessment with Sonography for Obstetrics )と呼ばれている産科救急現場で行う超音波検査と繊細な診断と止血法の選択が重要となるような子宮内病変（胎盤遺残や癒着胎盤など）を鑑別できる微細血流超音波ドプラ (SMI: Superb-Microvascular Imaging )を組み合わせて行うことによって、速やかな出血原因の診断と病状の重症度を把握すること、その病態に応じた治療方針を決定し、産科危機的出血の現場で実践的に用いることができるアルゴリズムを完成させることが目的である。非侵襲的な超音波検査で、FASOとSMIを組み合わせることにより迅速な出血の病態評価をするという目的を加えた新しい手法であり、超音波データの検討を重ねることで的確な治療法の選択に繋がると考えている。
