英文摘要
The JABIT was updated with a newly obtained set of data in FY2014 through an iterative process. Simultaneously, additional interviews with selected Japan-based DBFs are conducted to support the notion and the hypothesis. After the theoretical refinement of the two hypotheses, the applicant will use a combination of the descriptive statistics and the results of observational case studies to explore the concept of asset-enriched transfer from parent to newly developed firms. The study planned to use statistical data comparisons on specific variables from the JABIT database to study and analyze 30 purposely selected DBFs (i) Those considered as corporate spinoffs, (ii) Those which are not corporate spinoffs but have top managers with substantial biotechnology expertise through former employment experience in the industry, and (iii) DBFs which fall in neither of the two categories. Results from this exercise were meant to be used to compile a collaborative paper after team discussions and for cross-regional findings from Denmark and France DBFs’.Unfortunately, after the applicant’s tenure ended at the end of March, 2014, she couldn't find means of continuing with the project without financial support to continue staying in Japan. However, any future publications using data from the project will feature the support of the Kakenhi funding.
