今回の研究期間では宮崎市の粗大ごみデータをもとに文化的・社会的要因を分析するための方法論を確立することを目的とした。次年度の主要課題はマイクロコンピュータによる地理情報システム(Geographic Information System)を使った分析が中心となる。本年度の研究期間の目的は具体的にはその地理情報システムによる分析のための空間データベース(spatial database)をどういう情報源を使ってどう構築するかということであった。この空間データベースは幾つかの構成要素で成り立っている。まず粗大ごみ自体の情報として宮崎市の粗大ごみ収集記録1年分(平成6年度)をコンピュータに入力した。地理情報システムを使った分析では位置情報が重要でこの情報源として詳細な住宅地図を使用した。住宅地図の情報は幾つかの処理を経て地理情報システムのソフトウェアが読める形にした。まず、宮崎市域を土地利用形態によって分類しデジタイザと使いコンピュータに入力した。この操作を宮崎市内の597枚の住宅地図全てについて行った。次に粗大ごみの発生場所を住宅地図をもとに特定し位置情報として入力した。この他行政区画の位置情報とそれぞれに付随する人口、世帯数などの属性なども集計・入力した。こうして空間データベースの構築を通して様々な具体的方法論を試していった。もっとも重要な成果としては第一に分析のためのデータベースができたことが挙げられる。次に地理情報システム関連の三種類のソフトウェアを試しお互いのデータのやり取りに関する相性を試したこと。その他にも様々な形態の情報を処理する具体的な手順などを幾つか試し改良した。これらの具体的な方法論は実際に別の都市の粗大ごみを分析する際のデータの質の一定化、作業の能率化に大きな助けとなる。(754字)
