本研究は、グルジア語およびアルメニア語の文法を再考し、新しい文法概要の記述を目指すことを第一の目標とした。本年度は(東)アルメニア語を中心に文法書や学習書においてその文法がどのように扱われているかを検討した。その結果、文法呼称や活用形式の分類に関して見解が統一されていない分野が少なからずあることが分かった。特に動詞活用において、ある形式を時制とするか法とするかなどにおいて不統一が目立った。例えば、k-という接頭辞を持つ活用形式を、「未来時制」とする立場と「条件法」とする立場などがあった。また、この言語には「東」と「西」の2大方言があるが、西アルメニア語の文法では先の接頭辞を持つ動詞形式は「現在時制」として扱われていた。このような状況から文法書・学習書などの内容比較に加え、現実のデータを検討していく必要があることが認識された。構築するデータとしては電子コーパスが最適であり、これは本研究の第二の目的である非ラテン・非漢字系言語の電子テキスト構築に関わる。それに向けて、本年度は両言語の学習書を各1冊選出し、その翻訳を試みた。翻訳は両言語独自の文字を用いた電子文書としてWindows上で作成した。特殊文字を表示・印字することは比較的容易であるが、入力方法や検索などに関してはアプリケーションが文字の統一規格であるUnicodeに十分対応していない面があり、電子データとしては従来のコードとの併用となった。東アルメニア語では文字と発音の対応が一対一に近いが、完全ではない。しかし、それを指摘している学習書や発音を記載した辞書もあまりないことが分かった。翻訳文書作成の際に原著にはない発音表記を加筆したが、そのデータ数はまだまだ不十分である。とはいえ、文法概要の記述をより充実させ、電子テキストコーパスを作成し、当該言語の学習に必要な語彙集や辞書の編纂の試みに向けて、重要な知見を得ることができた。
