项目摘要

本研究の目的は、バタイユ思想におけるイメージの物質的側面の価値を明らかにすることにある。イメージの物質的側面とは、絵画や写真、彫刻などのかたちを与えられたイメージの物質としての性質、つまり固定性と持続性を指す。同時に、かたちを与えられたがゆえの脆さと非永続性をも意味する。イメージのそのような性質は、視覚芸術の制作と受容、展示と保存の契機に欠かせないものであるため、バタイユとその周辺の思想家たちの造形芸術論をおもな対象とする。本年度は、『ラスコー、あるいは芸術の誕生』およびその関連草稿の読解を通して、物質化によって先史時代から現代へもたらされたイメージの意義を検討した。その際、イメージの「美しさ」と作品を通した「コミュニカシオン」の関係に着目し、同時代のエロティシズム論における女性美と比較した。この成果の一部を、ジョルジョ・アガンベンの芸術作品論と関連づけながら、レクチャー「作品は痕跡か目的か――バタイユの芸術論から考える」にて公表した。それに加えて、第二次世界大戦前のヨーロッパにおける芸術論の文脈のなかにバタイユやアインシュタインを位置付けるために、ウィーン分離派とバウハウスの言説についても調査を進めた。その成果の一部として、論考「シーレのエロティシズム」（『ユリイカ』2023年2月号）においてバタイユのエロティシズム論とエゴン・シーレの身体表現の関連づけをおこなった。また、フランスへの渡航と現地調査が可能になり、大きな収穫があった。パリに短期滞在し図書館、博物館、書店にて資料収集をおこなった。フランス国立図書館では1920年代後半から30年代前半の美術雑誌における同時代芸術の評価、ポンピドゥー・センターおよび人類博物館では20世紀半ばの芸術動向と近現代芸術への先史時代芸術の影響を調査することができた。
