1.「慶安御触書」の成立過程を知るために、全国各地に流布している写本や木版本を網羅的に収集した。主な調査先は、国立公文書館内閣文庫・国文学研究資料館史料館・東京大学史料編 所・江戸東京博物館・長野県立歴史館・佐久市志刊行会・秋月郷土館・掛川市教育委員会・山梨県立図書館甲州文庫・東北大学付属図書館狩野文庫・岩村町郷土博物館・徳川林政史研究所である。2.上記機関では、複写可能な史料は、業者委託あるいは個人撮影を,35m/mフィルム及びマイクロカメラで採訪した。3.上記によって収集したデータは、パーソナルコンピューターにデータ入力し、分析を進めた。その結果、「慶安御触書」の成立において、文政13年美濃国岩村藩本の画期性が改めて確認された。新たな写本としては、天保12年信濃国中之条代官所大原左近の御触書を発見することができた。
