In this research, we aimed to investigate characteristics of human visual recognition of representation of data in statistical data analysis with dynamic graphics. In order to pursue the study, we focused on two subject ; the extension of the graphical data analysis system, which the investigators have been working on, to meet the needs to pursue the task and the investigation of the perception to the visual display with the system.In order to assess the visual perception for the data display, we have implemented capability to create proper pictures to evaluate certain aspects of the data and facilities to record and replay the maneuver of the user of the system. These functions themselves are essential for the system to support the data analysis. For the system dealing with dynamic graphics, we had to pay special attention to the technical issues of storing the record and re-displaying views based on the record. Issues of the implementation were reported at the 14^<th> Oita Statistical Meeting in 1996 and technical details are given in two papers in "Reports of the Faculty of Engineering Oita University" in 1998.On the system, we conducted experiments of the perception for the data in scatter plots. The effects of data representation attributes, such as "shape", "color", "brightness" and "termination", on judging sezes of data groups are examined in stationary and dynamic graphics. Target variables were response time and accuracy of the response. We confirmed that graphs with dynamic motion had some peculiar characteristics on the attributes and identified several of the effects on the perception.
