X-Ray Emission due to electrification of insulator has been confirmed experimentally. The experimental conditions of X-ray emission due to the electric charge-up effect have been extensively studied with the change of pressure, vacuum, insulator material, atmospheric gas, applied voltage, electric current (DC or AC), and so on. It is found that the X-rays are only strongly emitted when the vacuum is a very narrow range on the 10ィイD1-2ィエD1 Torr. The X-ray emission is very unstable even though we changed the experimental conditions as far as we could control. The physical mechanism of this X-ray emission has been clarified; it is due to electron bombardment.Using this phenomena, we have constructed an X-ray generating device using a 1.5 V battery and high voltage inverter. This device is quite small, and it has been observed that significant strength of X-rays were generated. The X-rays produced by this device was again very unstable, and we tried to find a condition by which the stable X-rays were generated. However, at the present stage of our work, we have not yet found such an experimental condition. We believe that the study of charge-up effect should be needed in the future.
