THE WHISTLES OF WILD BOTTLENOSE DOLPHINS OFF TSUJI ISLAND AND CAPTURED ONES IN AQUARIUM WERE RECORDED AND ANALAYZED. THE SIGNATURE WHISTLES FROM THE SAME INDIVIDUAL ARE NOT ALWAYS SAME AND THERE ARE SOME VARIATIONS IN TIME AND FREQUENCY, ESPECIALLY IN TIME. 251 KINDS OF THE SIGNATURE WHISTLES WERE RECOGNIZED FROM THE DATA OF 4 YEARS AND 231 KINDS OF THAT WERE RECOGNIZED IN 1999. THIS IS MEANING THAT MANY OF THE SAME SIGNATUTE WHISTLE ARE BEING UTLIZED FOR LONG TIME. AMONG THE WHISTLES, A RATIO CONTAINING SIGNATURE WHISTLE WAS VERY HIGH ( MORE THAN 90%).15 PARTICULAR COMBINATIONS OF SIGNATURE WHISTLES WERE OBSERVED AND 5 AMONG OF THEM WERE OBSERVED IN DIFFERENT PLURAL DAYS, MONTHS OR YEARS. MOREOVER, SOME PECULIAR SIGNATURE WHISTLES WERE ALSO OBSERVED DURING THE WHISTLE EMITTING BETWEEN THOSE PARTICULAR COMBINATIONS. IT SEEMS THAT SIGNATURE WHISTLES HEARD IN THE SAME RECORDED TIME ARE SHOWING THE WHISTLES FROM INDIVIDUALS IN THE SAME SMALL GROUP (FAMILY ?). NUMBERS OF SIGNATURE WHISTLE TYPES CONCERNED WITH ONE GROUP WERE LESS THAN 8.
