A Comprehensive Study on the Geodesy and Geophysics in Japan

地球物理学是一门研究地球及其环境的自然科学，分为大地测量学、固体地球科学、大气科学、海洋学、大气学等几个领域，其涉及面很广，近年来跨学科研究变得十分重要。本研究的目的是回顾和分析过去地球物理研究的成果，并找出其中的原因。本研究收集了大量的研究资料，并对多个领域的主要研究者进行了访谈。然后对科学政策的作用进行了研究，发现大地测量委员会对日本地球物理的进步起到了相当重要的作用和贡献。随着日本经济的发展，在地球物理的各个领域都建立了许多仪器和观测系统。未来，人们期待日本在地球物理学方面进行更高水平的研究。

Geophysics is one of natural sciences, in which the Earth and its environments are studied, and divided into several fields, i.e., geodesy, solid Earth science, atmospheric science, oceanography, aeronomy, etc. It covers wide area and interdisciplinary research has become quite important in recent years. The purpose of the present study is to review and analyze the results of the studies on the geophysics in the past time, and to find out the. way we should take in the future.In this study, many research data were collected and interview with many principal investigators in various fields were carried out. Then the role of science policy was investigated, and it is found that the Geodesy Council was quite important and contributed to the progress of geophysics in Japan. In various fields of geophysics, many instruments and observation system were established along with economic development in Japan. In the future, higher level research is expected in geophysics in Japan.
