増加する単独高齢者世帯もしくは高齢夫婦世帯でサポートが必要な高齢者の熱中症を防止す対策を考える。これまでの研究成果から、訪問する介護員や別居家族が軽度要介護高齢者の熱中症を予防するためには、訪問時に得られる食事や着衣行動などの情報とともに継続して測定された体重や体水分量、さらに居室や寝室の温熱環境の観察が重要である。本研究では、高齢者の滞在する居室や寝室の温湿度を遠隔監視して熱中症につながる脱水のリスクを事前に察知し、アセスメントする方策を提案する。週1回程度の訪問サポートを受ける高齢者20名を対象に、5～9月に居室と寝室の温湿度を連続的に測定した。一部の対象者に対して、試験的にLow Power Wide Area Network（LPWN）を利用してクラウドに保存された温湿度情報を収集した。居住地域の1日の平均気温が25℃、最高気温が30℃を記録し始める6月3週目から居室や寝室の昼・夜平均室温が29℃をこえる対象者がみられた。昼・夜の平均室内温度とその変動を1週間単位でみると、居室や寝室の昼・夜平均温度29℃を超える対象者が6名みられる週もあり、注意喚起の必要性が示唆された。また、その中には平均室温の変動が極めて小さい対象者もみられ、終日高温環境に暴露されることが確認された。このような高齢者に対して介護員や家族が水分摂取や室温調整についてアセスメント・介入する方策について検討した。インピーダンス法による体水分量測定は、継続的に行ってその変化を観察することで、脱水傾向を見極める一資料となる。近年、インピーダンス法による体水分量推定機能を備えた家庭用体重計を容易に入手できる。これらの測定値をLPWNでデータ収集することを試みたが、未公開の暗号化規格によりデータ転送できるに至らなかった。
