项目摘要

本研究は、日本人英語学習者の感情表現能力を養成するための効果的な指導法を開発することを目的とする。そのためにまず、日本人英語学習者による感情音声の習得状況および特徴を明らかにしたうえで、感情表現能力を向上させるために、どのような学習方法が効果的であるかを検証する。最終的に、感情表現能力向上に繋がる指導法を考案し、英語教育への応用を目指す。2022年度は、映画の一場面の会話の吹き替え（voiceover acting）を2つの異なる方法で指導し、日本人英語学習者の感情音声の変化を観測した。日本人大学生を実験参加者とし、映画『シュレック』の一場面を教材として、20分×5回の指導を実施後、会話の吹き替えを録画した。実験参加者を２つのグループに分け、一方のグループ（mirroring group）では、映画の登場人物の口や顔の動きに注目し、それを模倣（ミラーリング）するよう指導した。もう一方のグループ（Praat group）では音響分析ソフトウェアPraatを使用し、ピッチカープなどの音響信号に注目し、学生自らの発話のイントネーションカーブを映画の登場人物のものと一致させるよう指導した。両グループともに改善が観測されたが、mirroringグループではイントネーションのピッチ幅（pitch range）が、Praatグループでは破裂音の母音開始時間（VOT）が映画の登場人物のものに近づいた。また、実験参加者に対して行った記述式アンケートでは、映画の吹き替えに対して好意的な意見が多く寄せられ、ペアで行う吹き替えという学習方法が学習者のやる気と取り組む姿勢に良い影響を与えることが示唆された。本研究成果は国内外で開催された国際学会において発表し、参加者から貴重なフィードバックを得ることができた。
