项目摘要

『製品デザインが企業の競争力に与える効果およびそのマネジメント方法の実証分析』というテーマに関し、消費者の観点・企業の観点両面より取り組んだ。1つ目は企業サイドからの研究である。デザインの重要性が指摘される一方、企業が戦略を考える上で技術も重要な要素である。そのため、デザイン部門と技術部門（研究・開発部門）と如何に関連させるかが重要なテーマとなる。この点に関していくつか既存研究の知見も存在していたが、「如何に戦略的に両者の関連させていくことが優れたデザインの創出につながるのか」という点の分析が不十分であると考えた。そこで、デジタルカメラを対象に意匠・特許分析及びケーススタディを行い、企業の技術開発が活発な際には技術者のデザインへの関与が、あまり活発でない場合にはデザイナーが技術への関与をすることで、インパクトのある（のちに追随されるような）デザインが創出されうるということを明らかとした。こちらの成果は共著として『一橋ビジネスレビュー』誌の論文として掲載された。また本年度は消費者サイドからデザインのもたらす効果について分析を行った。既存研究におけるデザインが消費者に影響をもたらす要素をとりまとめ、スマートフォンを対象に4つのデザイン案を学生に対し提示し、評価してもらったうえで、そのデザイン案に対する購買意向を回答してもらった。その結果、Novelというデザインイメージに関しては消費者の購買意向に対し正の効果をもたらしたのに対して、Uniqueというイメージに関しては、消費者の購買意向に負の効果となっていた。この結果から、消費者を総体的に見た際に、必ずしもUniqueさが評価されるわけではないということが明らかとなった。こちらは、国際学会において共同発表された。このように消費者サイドと企業サイド両面よりデザインについて捉えることで幅広い知見を得た。
