项目摘要

家族成員による相互作用を考慮したうえで、きょうだいの教育達成に格差が生じるメカニズムを明らかにするという目的のもと、平成27年度は以下の3点を中心に研究を遂行した。1点目は、一昨年度および昨年度の研究成果をふまえた博士論文の執筆、2点目はきょうだい構成による教育達成格差について国際学会での報告、そして3点目は家族形成にかんする個人および家族成員の相互作用について国際学会・国内の研究会での報告である。博士論文では、きょうだいの教育達成の格差はもちろんのこと、職業達成の違いや結婚タイミングの違いについてもふれ、きょうだい内で違いが生じるメカニズムをより体系的に説明しようと試みた。教育達成の格差について論じた部分では、戦前の日本社会でみられたとされる「教育」と「相続」の代替関係が全国規模の社会調査データではみとめられないことや、家庭の階層的な地位が低く、出生順位の遅い子どもが教育達成上不利な立場に置かれやすいことを示した。国際学会での報告では、きょうだい構成要素のひとつである「出生間隔」に着目した実証分析の結果を報告した。出生間隔が大きければきょうだい内での格差が縮小するというのが定説であるが、分析の結果統計的に有意な影響は確認されなかった。このことより、出生間隔が近いきょうだいの方がお互いをロールモデルとして参照し、教育達成が類似する可能性があると推測される。家族形成にかんする個人および家族成員の相互作用についての報告では、きょうだいができるまで、すなわち夫婦が形成されて子どもが生まれ、それ以降追加的な出生が起こるというプロセスに対していかなる要因が作用しているのかを検証した。直接的にきょうだいを対象としてとりあげたものではないが、きょうだい内や家族内での相互作用のメカニズムを明らかにするアプローチのひとつとなった。
