アッバース朝初期社会はイスラーム文化の発展期であり、イスラームの教義が整えられていくとともに政治・支配形態や思想が発達していく時期であった。イスラーム初期時代の歴史史料において異端に関する言説がどのように形成されてきたのかを明らかにし、外来／旧来文化の影響やイスラーム教義形成と異端言説との関わりについて考察するのが、本研究の主題である。平成２７年度は、①イスラーム初期時代を中心とした歴史史料の比較分析、②著名な異端者の伝記史料の分析　を行った。また、9月からは研究指導委託として　③ロンドン大学東洋アフリカ研究学院での研究・史料収集　を行った。①　平成27年度上半期は、イスラーム初期時代の歴史史料の中からアッバース朝初期の異端／異端者の活動に関わる情報を伝える記事を収集し、記述内容の傾向の比較分析を行った。その結果、同時代から離れて時代が下るに従って記述内容に様々な珍奇な要素が混入していき、ヒジュラ歴3世紀後半以降に「言説」としての異端／異端者像が形成されていくことが確認された。②　また本年度は、①の比較分析と同様の手法を用いて、異端者（ズィンディーク）として後世によく言及される著名な文人・詩人の伝記情報を比較分析する作業も行った。この分析からは、①と同様に異端言説の発展が3世紀後半から始まることが示されることが確認された。③　本年度9月からは研究指導委託としてロンドン大学東洋アフリカ研究学院のヒュー・ケネディ Hugh Kennedy 教授のもとに滞在し、同教授の指導のもとで上記の研究を進めてきた。本研究はイスラーム初期の史料を多用する文献研究であるため、同様の手法を用いたイスラーム初期史研究の第一人者であるケネディ教授のもとで適した方法論を学ぶことができたことは、本研究の遂行に非常に大きく貢献していると感じている。
