本研究は、現代エジプトにおける沙漠開発について、私的土地所有権の展開から考察するものである。本年度（平成26年度）は、前年度からの法制史的研究に加え、沙漠開発地域の社会における具体的な法制度の実践についても研究が進められた。前年度からの継続として、エジプト2012年憲法に関する資料論文の「下」が、2014年9月発行の『アジア・アフリカ言語文化研究』に掲載された。この2012年憲法を改正した「2014年憲法」に関しても、アジア経済研究所の政策提言研究報告書の一つとして、2015年3月に論考が同所ウェブサイトに掲載された（同様の口頭発表を2015年1月に行った）。「沙漠地の所有権」の法制史的展開は、2015年1月発行の『日本中東学会年報』に、論文が掲載された（同様の口頭発表を2014年5月に行った）。同論文では、イスラーム法において「無主地」とされた沙漠地が、数度の法改正の中で、国家に明確な所有権を認める「国有地」へと変化していった様相とその論理を明らかにした。沙漠地は「国有地」と見なされる一方、実際の沙漠開発地域においては、個人や私的団体により「私有」される。そうした状況を描き出し、これを支える法制度的枠組みを、英語論文「Private Ownership of State-owned Desert Land: From the Practices and Contracts of Local People in Badr District, Egypt」にまとめた（近日投稿予定）。また、こうした地域社会の社会構成について、住民による結婚披露宴の諸相から分析した論文「社会をつくりだす制度としての結婚：エジプト・ブハイラ県バドル郡における結婚披露宴の諸相の考察から」をまとめた（近日投稿予定）。
