戦後40年代に着手されたフランシス・ポンジュの芸術論について、ポンジュ作品世界における立ち位置を測定し、その実体を解明することが本研究の課題である。昨年度の基礎作業を元に、本年度は以下の考察と作業を行った。ポンジュ造形芸術論の主眼に置かれるのは芸術家の諸技法である。「手仕事」、「行為」といった術語で呼ばれるそれは、芸術家の人格とその絶えざる思索が結晶化した物理的行為でありながら同時に抽象的理念でもあるような技法である。作家はそれを省察し、言語化することを自らの批評の務めとした。この技法とそれへの反省という主題を軸に、研究成果の報告を行った。『ガリア』投稿の論文では、作家の石版画論をとりあげ、そこで語られる「反復」といった技法理念について考察し、技法的反省が作家の記憶観に与えた影響を指摘した。並行して、日本フランス語フランス文学会では、40年代初頭のポンジュの創作に再浮上する眠りという主題に着目し、作家が眠りの創作への応用を当時試みたこと、そのさい一種の絵画と目される夢を材料の一つに戦後に展開される新たな詩学の準備を行ったことを報告した。また、ポンジュ芸術論における技法への関心については、その学際性を強調しながら関西マラルメ研究会で総括的な報告を行った。同研究会にはコーディネートの一部に携わり、先行詩人マラルメとポンジュの芸術論について複眼的な視野から検討を行う仕儀となった。氏名の表記は控えるが、発表者および世話役、司会の労をお引き受けいただいた各位には記して深甚なる感謝の意を表しておきたい。ポンジュ芸術論を一つの技法論として読む可能性を示し、それを批評活動と詩作品との往還関係に接続することで、作家の芸術論についての新規的な視座の提出という研究目標は比較的クリアなかたちで果たせたと思う。ただし、個別の主題については掘り下げるべき多くの余地を未だ残していることを認識している。
