项目摘要

筆者はこれまで、本研究が対象とするカーラカ理論が展開されたところの、インド古典文法・パーニニ文法そのものの歴史的背景について、ジャイミニやクマーリラ、プラバーカラといった5世紀から8世紀までのインドの聖典解釈学者らの著作に主に依拠して論じたほか、パーニニ文法に依拠する言語哲学は、パーニニ文法が本来対象としていたところの「正しい語形」を離れて―現代の言語哲学のように―言語活動という人間の知的営み全般を念頭に置いて展開されたものであるのか否かという従来見過ごされてきた問題点を提示し、さらにまた、その方法論的問題、すなわち、パーニニ文法学の志向する「教養知識人の言語」と、現実の言語使用との乖離はありうるのか、あるのだとしたらどのようにその間隙は埋められることとなったのかという問題を、同様の文献群に基づいて学派横断的に研究して発表してきた。本年度はまず、パーニニ文法の理論体系としての特性が際立つ「語形リスト（アークリティ・ガナ）」という理論上の道具立てについて、昨年度の研究をさらに発展拡大して、国際学会（第16回国際サンスクリット学会・於バンコク）において発表した。また、第66回印度学仏教学会学術大会（於高野山大学）では、これまでの研究成果を土台に、当初の研究課題であったカーラカ理論について、サンスクリットの第四格（為格）接尾辞を主題に、『マハーバーシュヤ』から新文法学派のテキストまで踏まえつつ、とくにその意味論上の役割の理解が、パーニニ文法の理論が改訂されていく中でどのように変遷していったかという事実を様々な文献に依拠して提示した。
