Electric Drive Technologies Ltd (EDT) develops high performance integrated electric powertrains which combine an 800V electric motor, a silicon carbide-based inverter and a gearbox into a single compact unit. Its unique selling point is its enhanced mechanical stability which mitigates noise and vibrations and increases the longevity of the powertrain. Thermal management in such integrated electric powertrains is of paramount importance as it is key to achieve high power density and high efficiency.The vision of this project is to explore and investigate the feasibility of collaborating with semiconductor and gearbox manufacturers in Asia to develop integrated cooling technology, as well as identifying potential end users of EDT's product. EDT will work with a local subcontractor to identify and shortlist potential strategic partners and end users for collaborative R&D and conduct appropriate due diligence on these companies. If the outcome of the study is positive, EDT anticipates establishing strategic R&D partnership with at least two innovative companies that can complement its business upon completion of this project. Engaging with these companies will enable EDT to establish local R&D ties to capitalise on the Asian market. This could open up an export opportunity for EDT at commercialisation stage.
