英文摘要
As the global press towards net-zero accelerates, the UK's need to adopt zero-carbon energy solutions becomes more critical. A key focus on the government’s agenda is more wide-scale adoption of hydrogen based technologies in transport, mass storage, construction equipment and shipping. To achieve this, there is a need for high performing storage tanks that can meet the demands of industry in their application flexibility and cost. This project aims to deliver on these goals by producing a new generation of hydrogen typeIV storage tank, ideal for use in automotive applications, which can be scaled in the future to a wide number of end-user applications.By combining state-of-art design and manufacturing techniques from Queens University and filament winding capabilities from CCP Grandsen, the consortium can validate the performance and commercial case with Impact Solution' testing facility to ensure that the materials chosen and the novel manufacturing techniques can be benchmarked against the state-of-art in tank rotomoulding. The proposed product will produce a high demand, cost effective, high performing hydrogen storage, offering a competitive advantage through improved environmental credentials. Furthermore, in collaboration with Wrightbus as an end-user, we will ensure our product meets the end-market specifications and provide a clear route to market.During the project, the consortium will assess the market opportunities available to develop the capabilities needed to support a scaled-up operation. CCP Grandsen will focus on improving the reliability of the filament winding process by investing in modelling software and a clean room, which will offer the tanks that Queens University e-rotomoulds the highest chances of success during testing. Impact Solutions will assess the market opportunity in the UK for tank testing and develop a plan to be the UK's first accredited centre for hydrogen tank testing for use in the automotive industry
