英文摘要
**_Melo_** is a new digital health app designed to help doctors and nurses across the UK provide better, more pro-active care for some of our most vulnerable mental health patient groups. For these patients, challenging behaviours (and violent outbursts) can be an ongoing challenge. Managing and dealing with this is an equally big challenge for those who look after and care for those patients. Our new innovation aims to help prevent aggressive behaviour before it occurs by enabling healthcare staff to better understand patterns of patient behaviour, spot early signs of escalation and put in place the right interventions for each patient. We have built this in collaboration with a specialist NHS hospital and are working with their staff and patients to test the new technology before it becomes fully operational. This funding would help us improve and evaluate the app, together with getting the relevant clinical and safety assurances in place for it to be used more widely across the UK.Over time **_Melo_** will help improve patients lives, together with helping to protect staff by better preparing them to deal with challenging behaviours. This will also increase staff retention and reduce costs to the NHS.
