英文摘要
Having seen and experienced the challenges and issues when changing an incontinence pad of my step father who suffered from dementia and stroke. I thought there must be some sort of aid. This first hand experience of the issue of clothing getting in the way when changing a patient's incontinence pad particularly when they suffer from dementia and are unable to lift and hold up the clothing, and seeing my mother struggle to help him. I thought there has to be some sort of aid, I searched extensively but there is not an aid.The aid's potential benefits include:* That assists a health professional to carry out certain duties far more effectively.* Efficient and time saving* That improves the safety of both patient and carer* That can give a patient greater independence* That can give a patient a sense of dignitySo this led me to design and develop the Apparel Aid. The project's objective is to take the design and basic prototype of the aid, and develop working prototypes that are functional and durable in a variety of sizes for both female and male. These prototypes will then be assessed by a Health and Social Care establishment.
