英文摘要
Good Boost Wellbeing Limited (Good Boost) is a rapidly growing UK SME delivering cutting-edge health & wellbeing technology. Good Boost's expertise in aquatic rehabilitation, gamification and AI-technology will co-design, develop and deploy a community rehabilitation service with the potential to save the NHS £21.36m by 2030\. Combined with the collaboration, expertise and network of the project partners & sub-contractors to expand the combined aqua-land community rehabilitation technology, the project stands to generate a post-project ROI of 23x by 2030\.**Unmet Need**Musculoskeletal disorders (MSKDs), such as arthritis, back pain and falls fractures represent over 22% of the ill-health burden in the UK, costing the economy and NHS £100bn+ per year. Disproportionately impacting older adults, low income and BAME citizens, they create deep health inequalities. MSKD prevalence is rising, waiting times increasing and significant challenges are ahead to address backlogs post-COVID (CSP, 2020). Solutions are needed to deliver MSK-rehabilitation that don't require additional NHS resources.Additionally, aquatic activity is the 2nd most preferred exercise for older adults, second only to walking, and 82% of the UK population live within 2-miles of a public swimming pool.**Solution**Good Boost's learnings and development over the last 18-months have highlighted the need for digital aquatic rehab hardware to create a solution that can quantify movement/effort in water-based exercise. Creating progress feedback for users and the ability for gamified aquatic rehabilitation. This will build on top of Good Boost's existing AI-aquatic rehab exercise SaaS solution. The aquatic component will be complimented by a gamified land-exercise programme at-home, to be completed in-between swimming pool sessions. Good Boost's existing swimming pool operator clients represent an existing UK roll-out opportunity of 640+ locations as future 'aqua-rehab hubs', meeting the unmet need with a model that's locally accessible, motivational and affordable for older adults.**Market Opportunity**There is no equivalent digital aquatic/gamified technology and Good Boost have the unique and niche skills, expertise, partnerships and existing IP to capitalise on this opportunity. 2.4bn people need rehabilitation globally and there are 25.5m swimming pools on the planet, representing a large future international commercial opportunity. The annual global and UK addressable/serviceable markets are $21B/£317M and £10.5M/£2.6M respectively.**Objectives**This industrial research project will complete product co-design, development, piloting, data collection, evaluation, manufacturing processes development and preparation for rapid post-project commercialisation. Creating a gamified, aqua-land rehabilitation product for older adults which will address MSK challenges facing the NHS and reduce health inequalities.
