英文摘要
Virtual production is being used in a wide range of industries, with its popularity increasing following the COVID-19 pandemic when travel became problematic. The virtual production volumes used in these productions require a mix of expensive LED walls, motion capture, live performance, cinematographers and Unreal Engine game technology to bring on-screen real-time 3D scenes, characters and effects to life. The UK has become the epicentre for large feature film-level Virtual Production stages, with an estimated 40 virtual production stages in 2021, second only to the US. Overall, production expenditure on Film and High-End Television (HETV) in the UK in 2021 was £5.6Bn (c.$7.6Bn)-- of which £4.7Bn, or 84% of the total, was inwards investment \[UK Department for International Trade, 2022\].INFINITY27 is an open game studio based in PROTO, Gateshead, and want to get this equipment into the hands of learners, to better equip them for high-tech, high-paid careers in the industry. This project aims to use access to cutting-edge technology at PROTO in Gateshead to develop and deliver virtual production training. The training will focus on imparting knowledge and skills related to virtual production techniques, which are becoming increasingly popular in the games and immersive sectors. The director of the company, Dan Baird, will be leading the project and the team whi will be responsible for delivering the project. The grant funding will be used to cover costs for labour, overheads and subcontracting the right specialists to ensure project success. The main work packages of the project will include research, development, and delivery of the training, and risks and interdependencies will be carefully managed to ensure successful delivery. The expected impact of the project within the first 12 months will be an increase in knowledge and skills related to virtual production, leading to growth and scalability of the business. The project is expected to have positive impacts on the creative industries sub-sectors and the wider society and economy, while also mitigating any potential negative impacts. Beyond the life of the project, the outcomes and impact will be sustained through continued use of the developed training materials and the knowledge and skills imparted to the participants.
